Benjamin Wey
A Brief Background On A Turtle Enthusiast And An Environmental Advocate
Benjamin Wey is a lifelong resident of Los Angeles. Although at first glance he might appear as a stereotypical California guy, since in his free time he can be seen: frequenting obscure boutiques and art galleries, spending a lot of time out in the beach, and being photographed in some of the most exclusive clubs. However he is nowhere near the hedonist type that lives a life of parties and random luxuries. Instead, he believes that there is a purpose in his life; to him he feels there is an urgency to define Benjamin Wey as a man of mission, selflessness and service. Therefore, he is always dedicating his time for the things that he cares about, such as writing, volunteering, community organizing, and doing whatever he can to help the environment.
Benjamin Wey is currently attending Pepperdine University for his Masters in International Affair, and he is planning on graduating some time in the winter of 2008. Over the years, his endeavors have led him to pursue matters outside of the United States. Being outside of the US, he is always active in a project— be it something academic related or personal, it is always tied to analyzing international relations. Benjamin Wey has traveled to Belize, Chile, Brazil, Venezuela, and Mexico repeatedly in his life, taking part in various field studies and exploring other cultures out of his own curiosities. In addition to his travels, over the years Benjamin Wey has learned how to speak Spanish and Cantonese Chinese fluently. In due course, he would like to work as a diplomat for the United States in Mexico or another South American country.
Outside of academia and his professional endeavors, his family and friends either recognize him as either, “Benjamin Wey, the turtle guy,” or “Benjamin Wey, the green guy.”
He can sometimes be known as, “Benjamin Wey, the turtle guy” because he has a deep appreciation for turtles. He considers himself to be a turtle enthusiast as his interest in the reptile stems from his memories when he was a child. From the moment he first encountered the little reptiles, he knew the little cute creatures were always going to be a part of his life. From an early age, many of his friends had their own pet red-eared slider turtles— spending time in their rooms and seeing tanks and bowls were nothing unusual. At a time when it appeared to be a trend to own a pet turtle, Benjamin Wey would have to wait till he actually got his own. Now that he is older, he is able to responsibly tend to the turtles he has now, as he not only spends time studying them, but also takes care of them. In addition, this childhood love continues to be a part of Benjamin Wey’s life as they are the main inspiration behind his works in literary fiction.
In addition to being affiliated with turtles, Benjamin Wey can sometimes be known as “Benjamin Wey, the green guy.” He has often been recognized for his passionate efforts in contributing to the protection of the environment and fighting global warming. In his spare time, he can be found volunteering for various environmental-based charities. Tying back to his interest in turtles and helping environmental issues, Wey has also directed his efforts towards turtles suffering from global warming. In addition, he has also been active in the cause of helping save the Green Sea Turtle. To this day, he still continues to take part in various projects that will fund a tracked turtle through [www.seaturtle.org (http://www.seaturtle.org)]. He personally plans on funding a track turtle as well as he is in the process of saving up the $5000 fee. Nearly everything Benjamin Wey is involved with benefits the world and the creatures that he holds dear.
